Wow! Wow! Wow!*

Worthing Hospital has beat Brighton and Chichester and will become the county’s Major General Hospital, because as Mr Wilderspin, chairman of West Sussex Primary Care Trust (PCT) says, “Worthing provides the best access for the greatest number of people, including those areas with the poorest health outcomes and the highest levels of deprivation”.

So this proves that campaigning does work. Did you know that we contributed our time to produce the naughty nurses calendar to raise funds for KWASH? We also designed the KWASH table mat which featured across a range of Worthing restaurants.

So sorry Brighton. Not wanting to rub salt into your wounds, but … Worthing has beat you twice in a month – Worthing Hospital is better than your hospital and our pier is also better than yours – because we have Worthing Birdman! So any of you Londoners who fancy a trip to the coast – maybe you should give Worthing a try. We have over 100 restaurants, two theatres and cinemas, a great pier and a major general hospital. So there!

So if like us – you have a point you want to get a cross – you need an eye-catching and effective campaign! So look no further. Click here to see our winning PR campaign for KWASH (Keep Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.

:-) Just in case you forgot, The Brand Surgery also creates brilliant logos and branding, websites, winning exhibition graphics, and stunning company literature to grow your business.

* OK - we realise that this blue print needs to be rubber-stamped next week but we reckon it’s in the bag.

Business Matters Advert

Top notch creative agency, The Brand Surgery, stole the show at the this year’s Worthing Microbiz event and took home the prize for the best stand. Their colourful and professionally designed display gave out a clear message: Want to stand out? We can make it happen!

From logos to brochures to websites, The Brand Surgery masterfully creates corporate identities that get businesses in the public eye. If you live in or near Worthing, there’s a good chance you’ve already come into contact with their work. Casa Ciro, Worthing Town Centre Initiative and The West Sussex Credit Union have all undergone complete Brand Surgery re-brands and most recently the agency designed and developed the Food and Fish Factory websites. It’s no surprise that The Brand Surgery also won ‘Highly Commended’ in the Best of Worthing’s Most Creative Business award category this year.

Having recently won the PR contract to put Worthing on the map, The Brand Surgery will be making sure that Worthing is Worthy! Did you know that Chanel won’t invest in a merchandise stand to sell their products in Worthing because they don’t think the demographic is suitable? The Brand Surgery want to prove Chanel wrong! They want to hear from all those residents who live in Worthing who would buy Chanel perfumes and cosmetics. Email: Vicky@thebrandsurgery.co.uk to join our petition.

One last thing… If you want to see The Brand Surgery team flying off the pier wearing doctors and nurses uniforms – head down to watch Birdman on Sunday 6th July. All in the name of charity!

If you want your business to stand out and start winning, then call Vicky at The Brand Surgery on 01903 824229.

Bognor Birdman
Image details: Bognor Birdman served by picapp.com

Oh no, we’ve only gone and done it! In a moment of sheer madness (fuelled by Pier pressure) we have decided to enter this year’s Birdman competition, which will be gracing Worthing Pier in all its colourful glory for the first time this year. Never mind that it involves ‘flying’ off a pier into a sub-zero temperature sea - any excuse to dress up in a ridiculous costume and do something silly! Let’s face it, when such a prestigious event comes to your town, you can’t just ignore it. Well, and it’s a brilliant PR stunt which us Brand Doctors are rather good at …

The first Birdman competition was held in 1971 in Selsey as a flight competition for human-powered flying machines. It moved to Bognor in 1978 where the event really ‘took off’ and has continued to grow and grow. The aim is to ‘fly’ as far away as possible from the pier for a top cash prize of £30 000. The actual result is a hilarious display of nutters in silly costumes jumping off the pier, mostly raising money for charity. When a 60ft section of the Bognor Pier was demolished last March the organizers deemed the event too risky, as the water at the new end of the pier was now too shallow to safely ‘plop’ into. Worthing won it from Brighton in a bid to host the event this year, not a bad result!

Wacky nutters in fancy dress attract big crowds! In the past few years an average of 30 000 spectators have been flocking to the Birdman competitions and with media coverage from the BBC and international TV crews, this event will certainly help to put our little town of Worthing on the map. Bognor is now more famous for the Birdman competition than the local Butlins …

So here we are in the safe comfort of the Brand Surgery office, where in between all the wonderful graphic design and website design and development, all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas are bouncing around to hopefully create the Theme of all Themes and costumes to boot. And let me tell you, whilst our brains are a bakin’, our knees are a shakin’ along!

Yes, just thinking about it already makes us want to jump for joy …

The boss has just returned from her early summer holiday to Taba in Egypt. She brought in a picture of her holiday romance. He’s called Alousha and he is so adorable but he always gets the hump over the stupidest thing.

We are very lucky to get Vicky back in one piece though. In the Daily Mail yesterday, there was a story about 170 Britons who stayed at the Movenpick Hotel (where Vicky stayed) who had cronic food poisoning! Luckily the boss is a superb brand doctor so she would have known what to do in the event of an emergency anyway. Maybe the Movenpick Hotel should call The Brand Surgery so we can help them improve their PR.

If your PR is in dire need of improving. Give us a call! And there is such thing as bad publicity - think Ratners!

Doing your own PR could be the straw that breaks the camels back! Give us a call instead!Doing your own PR could be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Planet friendly posters for East Sussex Credit Union

If you didn’t know this - Vicky – The Brand Surgery boss is also Vice-Chairman of West Sussex Credit Union. Do you know what a credit union is? No? You are not the only one! Vicky has been so frustrated with the lack of knowledge of credit unions – until recently when two good things happened. The first is that thanks to The BBC One Show’s, Dom Littlewood saved the day! Click on the link to view the TV footage! The second thing is that whilst Vicky has been slaving away training for the launch of West Sussex Credit Union – The Brand Surgery’s creative expertise was spotted by East Sussex Credit Union, who couldn’t wait for us to market their shiny brand new offices. We are proud to showcase our latest print project which is printed on recycled paper using sustainable inks of course! Together we will beat the credit crunch!
