Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

We are the proud designers of the first ever Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide.

This interesting project utilised many skills from within our branding agency. First we created a concept for the front cover design, and one inside page. We wanted to promote the ‘Sunny Worthing’ them, so we added sun rays around the Worthing Town Centre Initiative logo. We then created a ’sea’ effect using a combination of illustrations and photo effects to create a rustic effect.

Next, to continue with the ’sunny’ theme, we created a ’sun’ with food objects such as strawberries and chillies. Once this concept was signed off, we then set to work importing all the catalogue data from Excel documents supplied by Worthing Town Centre Initiative. We set all the data in the listing style that had been approved by our client. This was a lengthy task as there are over 125 restaurant listings distributed over 40 pages!

The brochure was then printed with a lovely gloss laminated cover. The whole effect is stunning and we are immensely proud of it.

Manhattan Website Goes Live

It has been a big week of websites for The Brand Surgery. We are currently working on two new websites having just switched Manhattan’s website to ‘live’. It feels so good when we flick the switch! There is lots of testing before that happens though!

The Manhattan website is not just a pretty website, it is functional and is a persuasive sales aid for the Manhattan sales team. You can view the full product range and specifications, check out Manhattan credentials, browse the photo gallery and much more …

With this website, we followed the corporate identity which has already been in place for a number of years. Click here and see what you think. If you fancy a stylish and slick website like this for your business, you know where we are. Just a quick reminder: You can call us on 01903 824229 for an informal discussion.

In case you hadn’t noticed! We are offering Facebook branding as a new service. We have created Part 2 of our short presentation on colour psychology which you can view if you become a fan of our Facebook page. It is very important to use the correct colour for your logo design as colours influence different emotions. Once you have chosen your key colours, these can be used for your brochure design, website design, promotional products, uniform, signage and exhibition displays and banners. The list goes on …

Part 2 of the presentation on colour psychology studies the colours: Purple, grey, pink, brown, silver and gold! We not only tell you what each colour is good for, we have collated some of the world’s best logos into colour categories.

If you would like us to create a short presentation for your website or Facebook page – call Vicky on 01903 824229.

Pan Asia group of Thai restaurants, Worthing and Lancing

Pan Asia group of Thai restaurants, Worthing and Lancing

Wow! Carabao’s new website is here. You need to visit this Thai Restaurant and Steak House in Worthing, West Sussex to experience the best Thai ever!

Do you know what Carabao means?

Wait for it … Carabao is a domesticated subspecies of the water buffalo found in Thailand. You can sample some organic buffalo on Carabao‘s main menu.

The Pan Asia group is a brand new chain of Thai restaurants in Worthing and Lancing consisting of: Carabao Thai Restaurant and Steak House, Mr Toy’s Flying Wok (opening soon), and Tuk Tuk Kitchen.

So why have we used an elephant for the Pan Asia logo?

Well … This stylish restaurant has a room upstairs called The King’s Room. You get to The King’s Room via the funky spiral staircase which runs up from the middle of the ground floor restaurant. In The King’s Room, you will find an elephant statue. We created the logo from a photo of the elephant which is up in The King’s room. Clever hey!

Carabao is great for a romantic evening out, an office party, and even a spot of business networking in The Kings Room. Carabao Thai Restaurant and Steak House are taking Christmas party bookings now. The Christmas menu will soon be published on the website.

You can view the full menu online and see the different food available. From Grilled Prime Sirloin Wrapped with Betel Nut Leaf to the vegetarian menu and the lunch time express menu.

In the meantime, if you need to market your business or your business website needs a rebrand, give us a call on 01903 824229 now for a free informal discussion. The Carabao website uses our CMS (content management system) admin system so our customer can update his menus himself, Wordpress blog setup for excellent SEO and Google rankings, e-marketing setup to encourage visitors to the Carabao website, and of course all our websites are W3C tested which means our website pages are of the highest quality.

Worthing Idol 2010 is nearly upon us. Wow! What an experience it has been organising a talent show on behalf of my charity, Talent Within You – if you need a launch party organising – now you know who to call: The Brand Surgery!

Worthing Idol takes place at Worthing Lido on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August 2010 between 12 noon and 3.30pm. It has already been pointed out that Lido is an anagram of Idol – so the location was obviously meant to be. We are all doing a ’sun dance’ in the office so that the weather is nice to us on Monday.

The line-up for Worthing Idol 2010 is amazing. You can click here to see it. Simon Cowell would be most envious if he saw the show – it is official – Worthing has definitely got talent!

Here is a movie clip of round 2 of the Worthing Idol auditions.

The Brand Surgery team have played a major role in the preparation of this event.

Logo design and branding
Website design and development
Blogging and Facebooking campaigns
T-shirt and banner design

August 6th, 2010

I was listening to the BBC World News this morning, and the news story about the BlackBerry ban in Saudi Arabia sparked an interest.

From the BBC website: A ban on the use of Blackberry phones to send and receive messages is being rolled out in Saudi Arabia, users say. State-owned phone operator Saudi Telecom has blocked text, e-mail, web surfing and instant messenger functions, users in the kingdom have told the BBC.”

Two things ran through my mind …

  1. This news story shows how some circumstances (political and/or reglious reasons) are completely beyond our control and this can affect our brand – for better or worse! In my  book, DO A MADONNA!™, I recommend that all businesses should perform a PEST analysis on their brand as well as their business. How will this ban affect their sales? How will the ban affect the brand image in Saudi Arabia, or across the middle East. The good news is that the PR has promoted the Blackberry brand across the rest of the world. These are important subjects to consider when you go into business. I wonder what would happen if our government banned junk mail. After all, a ban would save on recycling costs, trees and print chemicals. It would be disastrous for many printers and designers who could go out of business if they didn’t have a contingency plan in place.
  2. The name of brands is very interesting. Do you remember the film Crocodile Dundee? When an American reporter goes to the Australian outback to meet an eccentric crocodile poacher and invites him to New York City? Do you remember how Michael J. “Crocodile” Dundee struggled in our modern jungle? Crocodile Dundee was released in 1986, the same year as the internet. However, the internet didn’t become common until at least ten years later. Can you imagine how funny Crocodile Dundee would be if they re-released it now? What would Mr Dundee (Paul Hogan) make of Blackberry, Orange, Apple, Windows, web, O2 and even Twitter? If you said to Mr Dundee: “I’m going to Twitter today using web on my Blackberry, which is hosted by Orange”. What would he be thinking?:Twitter used to be a verb: to utter a succession of small, tremulous sounds, as a bird. to talk lightly and rapidly, esp. of trivial matters; chatter, to titter; giggle. So is twitter a good name for such a powerful form of social media? Social media experts promote Twitter as a phenomenon in business communication and networking. It is amazing that such a powerful brand wasn’t called roar or something loud! With the above said, Twitter has taken off, as have Blackberry, Orange, Apple, Windows, web, O2 and even Twitter!
