Rebranded News of The World

Rebranded News of The World

Out of everything bad has to come something good, so we had some fun on a Friday morning and created a ‘pretend’ logo for The Sun on Sunday – which will – according to popular belief – replace the News of the World. (The domain names have already been purchased presumably for their new website)

Phone hacking. What has the world come to? No pun intended. We feel sorry for the 200 innocent people who have lost their job during hard times.

How far would you go to raise publicity for your business? We advise you that there are far better and legal ways, and we can help you with this as all our press releases have got our clients positive column inches where they matter!

Call Vicky at The Brand Surgery – branding agency serving Worthing, Brighton, Arundel, Chichester, Horsham and the whole of Sussex – on 01903 824229.

Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide

We are the proud designers of the first ever Sunny Worthing Food and Drink Guide.

This interesting project utilised many skills from within our branding agency. First we created a concept for the front cover design, and one inside page. We wanted to promote the ‘Sunny Worthing’ them, so we added sun rays around the Worthing Town Centre Initiative logo. We then created a ’sea’ effect using a combination of illustrations and photo effects to create a rustic effect.

Next, to continue with the ’sunny’ theme, we created a ’sun’ with food objects such as strawberries and chillies. Once this concept was signed off, we then set to work importing all the catalogue data from Excel documents supplied by Worthing Town Centre Initiative. We set all the data in the listing style that had been approved by our client. This was a lengthy task as there are over 125 restaurant listings distributed over 40 pages!

The brochure was then printed with a lovely gloss laminated cover. The whole effect is stunning and we are immensely proud of it.

Manhattan Website Goes Live

It has been a big week of websites for The Brand Surgery. We are currently working on two new websites having just switched Manhattan’s website to ‘live’. It feels so good when we flick the switch! There is lots of testing before that happens though!

The Manhattan website is not just a pretty website, it is functional and is a persuasive sales aid for the Manhattan sales team. You can view the full product range and specifications, check out Manhattan credentials, browse the photo gallery and much more …

With this website, we followed the corporate identity which has already been in place for a number of years. Click here and see what you think. If you fancy a stylish and slick website like this for your business, you know where we are. Just a quick reminder: You can call us on 01903 824229 for an informal discussion.

How would you feel if someone stole your logo idea? Would you feel flattered or angry? You can’t stop businesses from copying your logo but you can stop them from using it, by registering your trademark or logo with the Intellectual Property Office.

Where do you start?

We have created a short presentation (below) because we are  frequently being asked how one goes about registering their logo. We registered our logo because as the number one branding agency in Sussex, we know the importance of protection.

We meet many business set-ups who think that registering their logo is a five minute process, when in fact, registering a logo and/or trademark is a four-six month process, whether you decide to register it yourself, or you decide to use a trade mark lawyer. How do you know whether to use a trade mark lawyer or not? Simple. Watch our short presentation and you will find out.

Design and protect your logo from plagiarism

Imagine you’ve been brainstorming for months, created a slick new logo and website, only to find out another business has previously registered your chosen name. Our presentation  shows you how to prevent this happening and how to protect your logo and/or trademark from plagiarism.

The Brand Surgery works in partnership with a dedicated trade mark lawyer because we know that your logo is one of your most precious business assets.  Call us on 01903 824229 for an information discussion on how to protect your logo or trade mark.

We listen to you. We design for you. We protect you.

Will Facebook and Twitter ever replace press advertising?

We never thought we would would say this, but we think it may just do that very thing in the future …

Just a few weeks ago, on Friday 29th April, a very special event took place. Not just Will & Kate’s fairytale wedding, but also an event we organised: The Broadwater Royal Wedding Picnic. Our working group had been working very hard for five months organising prizes, competitions, entertainment and so on. We discussed the advertising and decided we wanted to donate profits from the day to Broadwater Community Association and not the local press.

To begin with, we designed a Facebook page for the event using the logo and corporate ID we had created, and we developed a ‘shop‘ so we could accept donations from people wanting to gunge our local MPs and Councillors. We then embarked on a Facebook Frenzy campaign, and we Twittered into the twilight. Our social media marketing worked a treat: Our event attracted 3000 visitors, and we raised approximately £1500, most of which went to Broadwater Community Association as we didn’t waste money on advertising.

Our success didn’t end there. We recorded the gunging of Tim Loughton MP, Deputy Mayor Ann Barlow and Cllr Alan Rice, which is on You Tube, and it has now enjoyed over 2100 viewings – all from our Twittering and Facebooking.

March 9th, 2011

The Brand Surgery has been working closely with Balik Spa – and brand new Spa opening in Worthing – to create the perfect brand image.

Balik Spa is a very unique kind of spa, offering fish pedicures only! For those of you that don’t know, a fish pedicure is when you dangle your feet into a tank full of Garra Rufa fish. These fish, known as doctor fish, feed off the dead and affected areas of skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow.

So, Balik Spa came to us in need of a new logo, a design for their shop front and signs and a new website. Obviously, we were delighted to help and we thought we would share our work with you!

Below is the logo design, with the green square representing the healthy treatment tanks, with the small fish swimming in them. It is on a chocolate brown background as this is the colour of the new spa shop front.

Balik Spa Logo

After coming up with the logo design and shop front concept, we produced a website holding page design. We wanted this to be fresh, clean and exciting. Not only does this page get Balik Spa’s branding across, but it is also serving as a data collection point as visitors can sign up for latest news. This is a very important part of our e-marketing strategy and Balik Spa will be sending out e-shots to everyone who signs up, informing them of their latest offers and low prices.

We are currently working on the design for the full website, which we guarantee will be interactive, exciting and modern. Check back here for more information in the coming weeks.

If you are a new company and need urgent branding advice, logo design or website design and development, give Vicky Vaughan a call on 01903 824229 or email us at info@thebrandsurgery.co.uk.

The Brand Surgery has been extremely busy over the last few weeks with logo designs, press releases, magazines, charity work and blogging and we thought it was about time we let you in on what your favourite award-winning branding agency has been up to!

Anyone celebrating the Royal Wedding this year? Why not come to the Royal Wedding Picnic on Broadwater Green?  We have been organising the event as well as promoting it with our fantastic PR, not to mention coming up with a fantastic logo for the day! The event promises to be a special occasion with entertainment from Splash FM’s Simon Osborne and Dave Hunt, Children’s Entertainer Dave Benson Phillips and live music from last year’s Worthing Idol winner, Rebecca Buxton. The picnic and entertainment will be running from 4pm-9pm allowing you to watch the wedding at home and then enjoy the bank holiday in the sunshine with The Brand Surgery, Splash FM and Worthing Borough Council.

Speaking of Worthing Idol, with this year’s competition, The Brand Surgery is in the community again! We were so happy with the way last year’s competition went, we felt we had to get involved again this year! The date has yet to be announced but Worthing Idol is already looking for contestants so visit Talent Within You website (designed by The Brand Surgery) for more information. Make sure you keep checking our website as well, as we have some exciting news to announce in the coming weeks, watch this space!

Do you use the Stagecoach Coastliner buses? Yes? Well you’ve probably seen our work then! Our illustrations are all over the back of the buses and as part of our ongoing relationship with Stagecoach, we produce their magazines, aimed at providing bus users with offers, competitions and information about attractions along the coast. We have been copy-writing, designing, publishing and printing the Coastliner, Buzz East Sussex and Buzz East Kent magazines, covering a massive area from Margate to Portsmouth including places such as Canterbury, Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing (of course), Chichester and many more places between. You can find our latest magazines from April-September on all the Coastliner buses and in various tourist information centres and bus stops. We have also been putting our web design and development skills to use by launching the  Coastliner 700 website.

Buzz East Sussex

In addition to all of this fantastic and exciting stuff, The Brand Surgery has been continuing with it’s normal high quality blogging services, keeping AVS Fencing and Proto Restaurant Group at the top of Google search results for their chosen search terms.

Shark-El-Sheik

Shark-El-Sheik E-shot design by The Brand Surgery

Shark El Sheikh rebranded by The Brand Surgery, and once known as Sharm El Sheikh, once had the international reputation as one of the world’s most fabulous diving destinations in the Red Sea, Egypt. Then the shark attacks happened.

In my book, Do A Madonna, I advise business owners to perform a SWOT and PEST analysis of their business branding. I wonder if the Egyptian tourist board ever forecasted a shark attack and how this may of affected their business branding? When you think of Egypt – do you think of the pyramids or the shark attacks? We all know that a brand is a memory. Click here to read more on this subject.

Another subject I mention in my book is making the most of events and seasonal branding. We all know that the VAT rate rises to 20% in January. Most business start-up owners we meet are not VAT registered and therefore can’t claim this back. Therefore we are offering non-VAT businesses a special incentive.

Shark-El-Sheikh Offer 1: Book your logo design before Christmas and we will knock £100 off our business start up rate. Our normal start-up rate for business branding (logo design) is £595.Special offer £495. This includes our unique research methods which you won’t find elsewhere. Not only will you save £100 – you will benefit for the lower VAT rate.

For all those VAT registered  businesses – we guessed VAT won’t affect you, so we have another offer …

Shark-El-Sheikh Offer 2: As an introductory offer, we are offering our Facebook business page branding for 50% of our normal price. To see an example of this, click here. A page like this, including the presentation would cost £1100. You can have a page like this for £550. Call us for further information.

We hope you enjoyed reading our Shark-El-Sheik offer. For more inspiring ideas from Sussex’s No 1 award-winning Branding agency, call 01903 824229.

November 26th, 2010

In case you hadn’t noticed! We are offering Facebook branding as a new service. We have created Part 2 of our short presentation on colour psychology which you can view if you become a fan of our Facebook page. It is very important to use the correct colour for your logo design as colours influence different emotions. Once you have chosen your key colours, these can be used for your brochure design, website design, promotional products, uniform, signage and exhibition displays and banners. The list goes on …

Part 2 of the presentation on colour psychology studies the colours: Purple, grey, pink, brown, silver and gold! We not only tell you what each colour is good for, we have collated some of the world’s best logos into colour categories.

If you would like us to create a short presentation for your website or Facebook page – call Vicky on 01903 824229.
