Terry Winstanley - WOW FACTOR

Terry Winstanley, Jade Richards and eight other contestants from X Factor 2011 are coming to Worthing (Assembly Hall) for one night only (Friday 4th November 2011, 7-10.30pm) to promote their CHILDREN IN NEED SINGLE and sing their most popular songs from the show.

We met with Terry, from Worthing last week, and talked about the success of Worthing Idol 2011. Terry was so impressed, that he asked us to organise this one-off event. We were naturally delighted to accept. As you may know, we have also organised Worthing Idol 2010 and the fantastically successful Broadwater Royal Wedding Picnic which attracted 3000 people and we raised £1500 towards Broadwater Community Association. We are very excited as this is a national event.

We will be using our combination of design and marketing tools to promote THE WOW FACTOR: logo design, graphic design, social media expertise, website design, PR, and our newly acquired Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification.

Tickets are on sale at www.worthingtheatres.org priced at £12.50 each. If you would like further information, please contact the event organiser – US!! – on 07909 693172.  All profits from the show and the single will go to Help For Heroes.

Restaurant marketing and design by The Brand Surgery - click on image to enlarge it.

Food, food, glorious food. We love food so much here at The Brand Surgery.

That may be why we are so busy working for restaurants, take-aways and gastro pubs. We’ve been designing logos for eateries since 2001, and one of our customers likes the logo we designed for him so much that he will not rebrand, even after ten years!

As well as designing logos, we help with restaurant promotion by way of websites, blogging, social media (Twitter, Facebook and Linked In), advertising, e-newsletters, PR, strategic marketing and much more …

Christmas Event Promotions

With the countdown to Christmas now upon us, it is essential to send out your Christmas menus and start advertising your venue to guarantee bookings NOW. There are over 130 restaurants in Worthing alone, so how do you ensure that business office parties book tables in your establishment?

If you don’t have a website, we can get you web presence within a week so you can advertise your Christmas menu and get people to book online. All the websites we have designed for eateries have enabled them to reach page one of Google for their chosen keywords. For example, if you type into Google: “Thai restaurant, Worthing”, Carabao will appear. If you type into Google: “Fish restaurant, Worthing”, The Fish Factory will appear at the top. We can do the same for your restaurant so you get prime position, after all, how many people actually scroll to page 2 or 3 of Google?

We can also send your Christmas menu as a funky, designed e-shot to our mailing list of Worthing businesses within a week or two if you book now. Maybe you want a complete branding overhaul in time for Christmas? No problem.

We can also design Christmas cards, flyers and much more so you can enjoy the season knowing your restaurant is booked. We also work in partnership with The Worthing Journal and some of our new packages include design and a published advert.

Simple. Give Vicky at The Brand Surgery a call on 01903 824229 or email vicky@thebrandsurgery.co.uk. We have four new packages for restaurants, cafes, bistros and other eateries.

So whatever type of Christmas event you need promoting, we have a solution for you. Guaranteed bums on seats!

Rebranded News of The World

Rebranded News of The World

Out of everything bad has to come something good, so we had some fun on a Friday morning and created a ‘pretend’ logo for The Sun on Sunday – which will – according to popular belief – replace the News of the World. (The domain names have already been purchased presumably for their new website)

Phone hacking. What has the world come to? No pun intended. We feel sorry for the 200 innocent people who have lost their job during hard times.

How far would you go to raise publicity for your business? We advise you that there are far better and legal ways, and we can help you with this as all our press releases have got our clients positive column inches where they matter!

Call Vicky at The Brand Surgery – branding agency serving Worthing, Brighton, Arundel, Chichester, Horsham and the whole of Sussex – on 01903 824229.

March 28th, 2011

So we’ve spent the last few weeks talking through what The Brand Surgery – the award winning branding agency – has been getting up to during work hours, with various website, logo and magazine design work going on. However, this week we thought we’d take a look at what the dedicated staff of The Brand Surgery are getting up to outside of the working hours.

Richy Moss, The Brand Surgery’s Web Developer has been on a few trips recently, both as part of his dedicated support of the English National Football Team. Richy has visited Copenhagen and Cardiff in the past six weeks and has been pleasantly surprised by the reception the England fans have received:

“Both in Copenhagen and Cardiff, our fans were very well received. Both city’s used the games as an opportunity for some positive PR and tried to sell themselves to the English in the hope of attracting them back for future trips. Cardiff’s marketing and advertising was particularly clever as they set up a ‘Fan Area’ for the English fans with large screens and various activities, but they didn’t miss an opportunity to advertise Cardiff’s attractions and city centre with posters visible everywhere and TV adverts regularly displayed.”

Vicky Vaughan in New York

Up, Down, Left, Right - Vicky in NYC

This takes us smoothly into Vicky Vaughan’s (Managing Director of The Brand Surgery) recent efforts behind the scenes as she has been working extremely hard on her CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing. The course, which she started in January, will provide her with a degree level qualification by the end of the year. Not bad going hey! Modules on her course include Managing Marketing, Marketing Planning Process, Project Management in Marketing and Developing Customer Value.
Vicky needed a case study for her course and she has chosen Worthing Town Centre Initiative, who’s marketing is absolutely brilliant, having put Worthing well and truly on the map in recent years by holding events like Worthing Birdman and the ice rink. Vicky has been set the task of introducing a new performance measurement standard (PMS) for Worthing Town Centre Initiative and has been researching all the available options including Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, ISO 19001, ISO 14001 and Balanced Scorecard. Vicky is now working out the team changes required before preparing a budget and a cost/benefit analysis. All sounds very complicated, but The Brand Surgery is very proud of Vicky for undertaking such a commitment and heavy workload in her free time.

Vicky has also just returned from a trip over to The Big Apple. Having worked tirelessly designing and publishing the Stagecoach magazines Coastliners and Buzz, the Stagecoach team asked Vicky along to visit NYC with them, a fantastic opportunity and Vicky loved every second.

Richy has also been busy playing football for his local sides Worthing United and Northmore F.C, the former are chasing promotion and a possible league title in Sussex County Division 2 and the latter of whom have recently made it to a cup final and are in the running for the league in the Worthing and Horsham District Division 4. Richy has had his most successful season in terms of goals scored by scoring 24 goals for Northmore in just 21 games.

Richy Moss - Web Developer

Richy Moss - Website Developer

“It’s been brilliant being part of two successful teams this season but it’s all down to hard work and teamwork. I have used my position within Northmore to gain me experience for The Brand Surgery as well by writing match reports every week and submitting them to The Worthing Herald, who publish the report every week. The Brand Surgery offers blog writing and copy writing services and well as PR so this is valuable experience and development of skills which I use now on a day to day basis.”

Of course, just because The Brand Surgery team is busy after hours, doesn’t mean we are any less focussed on getting you the right brand, logo, website, marketing, etc for your business. In fact, most of what we are up to has a direct positive influence on the work we undertake as we are constantly striving to develop and improve our award winning services. So if you would like any more information on our services give Vicky a call on 01903 824229 or drop us an email at info@thebrandsurgery.co.uk.

The Brand Surgery has been extremely busy over the last few weeks with logo designs, press releases, magazines, charity work and blogging and we thought it was about time we let you in on what your favourite award-winning branding agency has been up to!

Anyone celebrating the Royal Wedding this year? Why not come to the Royal Wedding Picnic on Broadwater Green?  We have been organising the event as well as promoting it with our fantastic PR, not to mention coming up with a fantastic logo for the day! The event promises to be a special occasion with entertainment from Splash FM’s Simon Osborne and Dave Hunt, Children’s Entertainer Dave Benson Phillips and live music from last year’s Worthing Idol winner, Rebecca Buxton. The picnic and entertainment will be running from 4pm-9pm allowing you to watch the wedding at home and then enjoy the bank holiday in the sunshine with The Brand Surgery, Splash FM and Worthing Borough Council.

Speaking of Worthing Idol, with this year’s competition, The Brand Surgery is in the community again! We were so happy with the way last year’s competition went, we felt we had to get involved again this year! The date has yet to be announced but Worthing Idol is already looking for contestants so visit Talent Within You website (designed by The Brand Surgery) for more information. Make sure you keep checking our website as well, as we have some exciting news to announce in the coming weeks, watch this space!

Do you use the Stagecoach Coastliner buses? Yes? Well you’ve probably seen our work then! Our illustrations are all over the back of the buses and as part of our ongoing relationship with Stagecoach, we produce their magazines, aimed at providing bus users with offers, competitions and information about attractions along the coast. We have been copy-writing, designing, publishing and printing the Coastliner, Buzz East Sussex and Buzz East Kent magazines, covering a massive area from Margate to Portsmouth including places such as Canterbury, Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing (of course), Chichester and many more places between. You can find our latest magazines from April-September on all the Coastliner buses and in various tourist information centres and bus stops. We have also been putting our web design and development skills to use by launching the  Coastliner 700 website.

The Brand Surgery supports The Community

The Brand Surgery supports The Community

It’s been nearly two weeks since Worthing Idol 2010 took place for the very first time. My charitable organisation, Talent Within You,  has been inundated with requests to make Worthing Idol an annual event. First of all …. congratulations to Rebecca Buxton who won £250 towards her talent (first prize) courtesy of Worthing Town Centre Initiative. Very well done to Tara Hill (Irish Dancer) and Team Foxy (Paige Latham and Harry Morley) – both teams danced their way to 2nd and 3rd place and received M&S vouchers kindly donated by Cllr Carol Molineaux.

We are very grateful to the local press, The Argus and Herald newspapers for giving this event such excellent publicity. The day was fantastic – Simon Osborne gave his fee up to Pete McIntosh, so he could help us with the running of this event. We have to say – Simon’s immaculate attention to detail meant that Worthing Idol ran like clockwork. Even though our co-founder, Mike Pisko, our co-founder, was away playing golf on the day, he did help with the organising most of the raffle prizes and the auditions – thank you Mike.

The line-up of talent was amazing. Anyone who watched this event will agree that this team of Worthing talent would have definitely got through to the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Thank you to everyone who helped. Worthing Town Centre Initiative who helped us to fund this event, Foundry Press of Horsham, who printed all the brochures and programmes, Ivy Arch Studios, Barclays Bank, Glue who filmed the event (we’ve yet to see their work, but feel confident it will be excellent), Proto Restaurant Group (Andy Sparsis who gave up his time to judge the event), Tim Loughton MP (who also donated money to Talent Within You and give up him time to judge), Carol Molineaux (who judged and has also been most generous in her kind donations to Talent Within You), not forgetting Amelia Regnante who was our expert judge, and helped us with the auditions.

Last, but by no means least. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time on the day. This includes: Cllrs Paul High and Kevin Skepper, my wonderful family (mum, Bill, Oli, Yvonne & bump), Loraine from Barclays Bank, Lorraine Hawkes from Worthing Town Centre Initiative who played the keyboards wonderfully, and all my staff at The Brand Surgery who worked tirelessly on the website, programme design, blogging, PR and kept me sane through the event planning process.

If you want to set up a charity and run an event, we are now experts in this area too! If you want good PR, we can create  successful press release writing which will give you good results.

Call Vicky Vaughan at The Brand Surgery (also founder of Talent Within You), on 01903 824229 if you would like us to help you with event branding or planning.

August 25th, 2010

Worthing Idol 2010 is nearly upon us. Wow! What an experience it has been organising a talent show on behalf of my charity, Talent Within You – if you need a launch party organising – now you know who to call: The Brand Surgery!

Worthing Idol takes place at Worthing Lido on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August 2010 between 12 noon and 3.30pm. It has already been pointed out that Lido is an anagram of Idol – so the location was obviously meant to be. We are all doing a ’sun dance’ in the office so that the weather is nice to us on Monday.

The line-up for Worthing Idol 2010 is amazing. You can click here to see it. Simon Cowell would be most envious if he saw the show – it is official – Worthing has definitely got talent!

Here is a movie clip of round 2 of the Worthing Idol auditions.

The Brand Surgery team have played a major role in the preparation of this event.

Talent Within You is the idea of Vicky Vaughan who wanted to reduce street crime and violence by giving kids a purpose in life. The Brand Surgery has designed the logo, the website and all the promotional material for Talent Within You. We have also worked on all the PR. We are working hard to make Talent Within You a registered charity and we need £5000 in total to do this. Once we are a charity, we can apply for grants and help more children develop their talent. Please help us by fundraising, so we can help more children and make the streets of Britain a safer place to live, work and play.

The Coastliner N700 Nightbus

The Coastliner N700 Nightbus - The Official Pyjama Party!

As you know, we recently worked on the illustrations for Stagecoach Coastliner 700 buses, and we can now reveal that our lovely buses are now going to be working hard throughout the night as night buses between Worthing and Brighton. They are running up to 11.30pm Sunday to Wednesday, and up to 3.30am from Thursday to Saturday. What’s more, the cost is only £5 a ticket from Worthing to Brighton, and if you already have a Stagecoach ticket valid for that daytime, you can take advantage of this fantastic service for only £1 extra.

Jody and myself were pleased to be asked to be part of the launch, and we coudn’t wait to get dressed up in our PJs! Of course I had to wear our trademark brand pink pyjamas.
