At the RED Corporate Golf Day, The Brand Doctor team bid and won many items at the charity auction in aid of Worthing Churches Homeless Project, including a Corporate Golf Day for 20 people, two golfing breaks and a make-over with Gay Richardson of Style me Confident. Vicky Vaughan, Managing Director of The Brand Doctor decided to pay a visit to one of WCHP’s day centres, St. Clare’s Day Centre, to see what goes on.
Vicky said, “I was embarrassed to discover that I have lived and worked in Worthing for ten years and didn’t realise the extent of the homelessness problem. I for one, am guilty of walking past the homeless and not reaching into my pocket because I fear my hard earned cash (that I have left after multiple taxation) will be spent on alcohol and drugs! What will I do next time I pass the homeless? Probably the same but I will feel much less guilty because I will be helping them out in another way.”
Hang in there homeless people of Worthing! There is light at the end of the tunnel! Gay Richardson (Style me confident) and Vicky Vaughan (The Brand Doctor) are coming to the rescue! Through our re-branding and styling experience and expertise, we hope to turn-around the lives of Worthing’s homeless and take them to the next stage and get them ready for interviews and careers. We will do this through role-playing interviews, teaching positive thinking and the ‘laws of attraction’, life experience, form-filling and clothing the clients in a stylish way.
You can help too! Next time you have a load of clothes to give to jumble, why not donate them to Worthing Churches Homeless Project instead? I’d never thought about giving my ‘old’ smart clothes to this excellent charity. We assume that the homeless will always be homeless. Alas no! Alison Godfrey, Chrissy West and the team take pride in re-homing and helping Worthing’s homeless through challenging times (maybe helping them through alcohol or drug abuse) to a point where they can stand on their own two feet.
I was asked at my training day if I knew any businesses who would be prepared to take these ex-homeless into their businesses to give them a head-start by offering them work placements. So I am asking anybody who reads this to contact Worthing Churches Homeless Project or The Brand Doctor if they think they can help turn-around the lives of the less fortunate.
