Town Centre Marketing and BID brochure creative design

The challenge

We designed the Worthing Town Centre Initiative logo in 2006 and as a result of its success, and in 2008 our client asked us to design the BID brochure in order to obtain a YES vote.

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a precisely-defined geographical area of a town, city or any other commercial district where ratepayers have voted to invest collectively in the local improvements in addition to those already delivered by the local authority and other bodies. BIDs have been operating successfully in the USA for over 35 years and to date none have been disbanded once established. BIDs are an exciting new means for businesses to work together to improve their local trading environment. A BID allows the businesses to decide on the services and projects to be implemented near to their premises.

 The solution

We researched what other towns are doing to obtain YES votes. It is essential BID members see the benefits of the levy they are paying. Both BID documents had to obtain a YES vote, however, they had different strategies to achieve this.

In 2008, not many businesses had heard of BIDs and we needed to justify the cost of an extra levy. So the BID brochure marketing message needed to communicate the benefits of BIDs. We worked with the Town Centre Manager to highlight the key features and used our creative design skills to lay the benefits in an easily digestible format.

Five years later in 2013, we needed another YES vote. If you remember we had been though a recession and many businesses were still recovering – there was some concern whether we would win another YES vote. This time the BID document needed to work hard in communicating how the BID levies had been spent. We captured this with photos and separated text into bite-sized pieces within the brochure design.

We are delighted that our BID brochures have achieved YES votes. We very much enjoyed working on these projects and feel confident that our combined marketing and creative design expertise will win your town a YES vote. Please contact us today using the form below.
