This year, Worthing Idol has come back in disguise! For one year only, Vintage Idol is taking place, which is an over-50 Talent Contest. On Sunday 28th October at 2pm in the Empress Suite, Connaught Leisure, Marine Parade in Worthing, 20 nervous, mature contestants will be waiting to entertain you while being judged by Worthing’s very own Terry Winstanley, Tim Loughton MP, Iain Flitcroft and last year’s Worthing Idol winner – Lizzie Haynes (who will also be performing). Dave Hunt is compering the event.
Manhattan Furniture have kindly sponsored the prizes. So the top prize is £100 and there are two runners-up prizes of £50 each.
Now all we need are contestants to audition for Vintage Idol. The auditions will be taking place during the first two weeks of September at a Worthing venue – to be announced. Please register for these auditions by emailing vicky@talentwithinyou.org or visit www.talentwithinyou.org and fill in the Vintage Idol registration form before 30th August 2012.
If you know anyone who is 50 years or older, who can get a crowd going with their singing, dancing, music playing or even joke telling – then Vintage Idol is just for them. Don’t be shy. This is a chance to show the rest of the UK what the more mature demographic of Worthing has to offer. The competition is free for contestants to enter, and there will be three prizes – the top prize is £100. The rest of the prizes are to be confirmed.

Last year’s Worthing Idol winner – Lizzie Haynes will be judging and performing at Vintage Idol 2012. Since Lizzie won last year, she has been progressing her singing skills. With the prize money, Lizzie embarked on a summer course at The Children’s Music Theatre in Sevenoaks.
